Butkowski Named Academic All-District in Women�s Track and Field

UW-Stevens Point senior Jody Butkowski has been named to the Verizon Academic All-District team for women�s track and cross country for the second straight year. The former Stevens Point Area Senior High standout carries a 3.85 grade point average in English.

The 10-member All-District team includes all female track and field and cross country athletes from Division II, Division III and NAIA in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Indiana. Butkowski is now eligible for Academic All-American honors. She was a third-team Academic All-American last season. The team is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

     Butkowski, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women�s outdoor track and field scholar athlete, was the conference champion in both the triple jump and 4x100 relay. She placed ninth at the NCAA Division III outdoor championships in the triple jump.

Butkowski is a three-time All-American in the triple jump. She placed sixth at the 2002 Division III outdoor championships, eighth at 2002 indoor championships and second at the 2001 indoor meet.
