Verbrick Sets Baseball Team�s All-Time Wins Record

     Senior Bill Verbrick pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts for his school-record 21st career victory as the UW-Stevens Point baseball team defeated UW-Oshkosh 15-3 in the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday at Tiedemann Field in Oshkosh.

The record was just the latest success for the former Appleton Xavier High School standout, who already has the first nine-inning perfect game in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference history and a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week award this season.

Verbrick is now 21-10 in his four-year career and 5-1 this season. He passed Chris Simonson (1996-99) on the career victories list. Simonson posted a 20-12 career mark during his four seasons.

For the season, Verbrick has 50 strikeouts and eight walks in 45 innings pitched. He now has 206 career strikeouts and needs 17 to pass Simonson as the school�s career strikeout leader.

The Titans came back to win the second game 10-8. UW-Stevens Point is now 15-6 overall and 8-4 in the WIAC.
