Players of the Week � May 7

Baseball � Position Player

Sam Molski (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) � The senior outfielder tied the school record for most home runs in a season when he his 11th against UW-River Falls. It was also the 30th home run of his career putting him just two home runs away from UWSP�s career mark. For the week, Molski went five-for-11 with a double, home run, and three RBIs.

Baseball � Pitcher

Jeff Pieper (Wausau, WI/West) � The sophomore right-hander fired a complete game five-hitter to defeat UW-River Falls. The Pointers beat the Falcons, 2-1. Pieper faced just four batters over the minimum in nine innings of work, gave up one earned run, struck out eight and did not walk a batter.

Softball

Karen Guckenberger (South Milwaukee, WI/South Milwaukee) and Kelly Rutta (Stevens Point, WI/Pacelli) � Guckenberger pitched four complete game wins, and Kelly Rutta reached base in 15 of 19 plate appearances to lead the Pointers to the title at the WIAC Championships last weekend. On Tuesday, Guckenberger threw a one-hitter against Marian College and Rutta hit the game-winning solo home run for the only score of the game. For the week, Guckenberger was 5-0, gave up three earned runs struck out 33 and walked only four in 35 innings pitched. Rutta hit .545 (12-for-22) with a double, a triple, three home runs, two stolen bases, seven runs scored, and five RBIs.

Men�s Track Events

Chris Horvat (Menomonee Falls, WI) � The senior won the championship at 800 meters at the WIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Horvat won the event in 1:52.83 eclipsing the provisional qualifying standard for the NCAA III Outdoor Championships.

Men�s Field Events

Aaron Carley (Lodi, WI) � The freshman placed second in the triple jump and third in the long jump at the WIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Carley�s triple jump of 14.44 meters (47� 4.5��) provisionally qualified him for the NCAA III Championships. Carley�s long jump was 7.05 meters (23� 1.75��).

Women�s Track Events

Leah Juno (Brillion, WI/Brillion) � The senior broke the WIAC record in the 800 meter run at the WIAC Championships in Whitewater. Juno flew past the field in 2:11.29 breaking the conference record set by Brenda Biskobing of UW-Whitewater in 1995.

Women�s Field Events

Becky Clarke (Antioch, IL) � The freshman placed in three events at the WIAC Championships in Whitewater. Clarke won the title in the javelin with a throw of 38.74 meters (127� 1��). She placed second and provisionally qualified for the NCAA III Championships in the women�s heptathlon with 4111 points. She also finished sixth in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 16.64 seconds.
