Randy Boelk finished second in the 200 backstroke and sixth in
the overall competition as the UW-Stevens Point men's swimming and diving team placed
seventh overall at the NCAA Division III championships Saturday in Atlanta.
It marks the fourth straight year the Pointers have finished among the top 10 teams in
the country. UW-Stevens Point had 150 team points, while Kenyon (Ohio) won its 21st
straight national championship with 670.5 points. Boelk provided 48 of the Pointers' team
points.
Boelk swam the 200 backstroke in 1:49.80, but Kenyon's Estevao Avila set a meet record
with a time of 1:47.62. Jeremy Francioli finished seventh in the event.
The Pointers' 200 freestyle relay team of Boelk, Anthony Harris, Francioli and Nick
Hansen finished 12th overall with a time of 3:07.25.
