Battaglia
Selected to Lead Women�s Golf Team
Joe Battaglia, the head golf professional at
Tri-City Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids, will lead the University of
Wisconsin-Stevens Point women�s golf program during the 2004-05 season.
Battaglia will be a part-time staff member at
UW-Stevens Point and take over a squad that placed fourth in the
Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference last season. He is a
UW-Stevens Point graduate and worked as an assistant pro at Sentryworld
Golf Course in Stevens Point from 1994 to 1997. He also spent time as an
assistant pro at courses in Scottsdale, Ariz., Paradise Valley, Ariz.,
Sun Valley, Ariz. and Ivanhoe, Ill.
As a player, Battaglia competes in Wisconsin
PGA events and also took part in the Pepsi Tour and Western States Tour
while in Arizona.
�We�re very excited to have an individual of
Joe�s caliber coaching our golf team,� UW-Stevens Point athletic
director Frank O�Brien said. �He brings a strong background and will be
a great addition to our program.�
Battaglia replaces Mike Okray, who coached the
Pointers the past four seasons and resigned to take a staff position at
Sentryworld.
