Zimmermann Named Regional Pitcher of the Year

Point sophomore Jordan Zimmermann has been named the National Collegiate
Baseball Writers Association Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year after
helping the Pointers reach the NCAA Division III World Series.
Zimmmermann, an Auburndale native, compiled 103 strikeouts and 20 walks in
87 innings pitched, holding opponents to just a .172 batting average.
Zimmermann had a 5-5 record as the Pointers scored a total of seven runs in
his five defeats. The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher
of the Year and a second-team All-American, he had eight complete games in
his 11 starts.
Mike Eisenberg
from Marietta (Ohio) was named the National Pitcher of the Year. Eisenberg
outdueled Zimmermann in a 2-1 contest in the opening game of the World
Series as both pitchers were named to the All-Tournament team. |
