Zimmermann Named
WIAC Pitcher of the Week
UW-Stevens Point pitcher Jordan Zimmermann was
named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week
following his record-setting performance last week.
 Zimmermann, an Auburndale native, tied a 45-year
old school record with 14 strikeouts in the Pointers� 7-2 win over
UW-Platteville on Saturday. The sophomore righthander struck out the side in
the first and ninth innings and matched the mark held by Bill Kuse in 1961
against UW-Milwaukee.
He allowed just four hits and
one earned run in the nine-inning complete game performance. It marks the
second straight week the Pointers have claimed the Pitcher of the Week honor
after Jeff Zielke earned the award last week.
