Pointers Rout Oles in Nightcap to Split

Tim Schlosser highlighted a
19-hit UW-Stevens Point attack with seven runs batted in as the Pointers
routed St. Olaf 21-5 to earn a split in a doubleheader on Monday in Port
Charlotte, Fla.
The freshman third baseman had
a three-run double in a 10-run second inning and added a grand slam in a
six-run third inning. Matt Polomis added a three-run homer in the second and
finished three-for-four. Steve Wiczek was four-for-five with a home run and
three RBI's, while Ryan Jones also had a home run. Jordan Zimmerman threw
five innings with seven strikeouts for the win.
In the opener, UW-Stevens
Point jumped out to a 7-1 lead, but the Oles countered with an eight-run
third inning to pull away for a 12-8 win. Jones was two-for-four with three
RBI's and Polomis was two-for-four with two RBI's. Matt Simonson took the
loss for the Pointers, who play St. John's in a single game on Tuesday.
