Jones, Reinke Sweep WIAC Baseball Player of the Week Awards

Point landed both the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference baseball
Position Player and Pitcher of the Week awards as senior first baseman Ryan
Jones and junior hurler J.C. Reinke earned the honors.
Jones, an Eau
Claire North High School graduate, hit .500 for the week with eight hits in
16 at-bats and eight RBI�s. Jones hit five home runs, a triple and a double
for a 1.286 slugging
percentage. He also
became UW-Stevens Point�s all-time home run leader with 33 for his career,
surpassing Mike Reuchel, who hit 32 from 1986-89.
Reinke, a
Bonduel native, pitched six shutout innings in an 8-0 win over NCAA Division
I Lipscomb (Tenn.). He allowed just
four hits, struck out two and walked none to earn his first victory of the
year. Reinke also threw three innings in relief against St. Olaf, giving up
five hits and striking out four.
The Pointers
opened the season with a 2-4 record and play a doubleheader at UW-Oshkosh on
Wednesday at noon. |
