Peter
Lucas - Football - 1988-90
Lucas is the only offensive lineman
in school history to earn first-team All-American honors, garnering
the award from the Football Gazette in 1990. That same season, Lucas
was a second-team small college All-American selection by the
Associated Press. Lucas was also a Pizza Hut third-team All-American
in 1989 and received first-team all-conference honors both seasons.
The Jefferson native was a 10th round draft choice of the Atlanta
Falcons following his career at UW-Stevens Point. |

Mark
Poirier - Wrestling - 1988-93
Poirier was the national runner-up
and conference champion at 142 pounds in 1993 while posting a 33-5
record as the team�s captain and MVP. Poirier was also the 142-pound
conference champion in 1992 as the Pointers won the conference title
his junior and senior seasons. He ranks second in school history
with 305 career takedowns and made three appearances at the national
meet. The Bloomer native was a three-time state high school champion
and also served two seasons as an assistant coach with the Pointers. |

Chuck
Ritzenthaler - Baseball/Basketball - 1964-67
Ritzenthaler
still holds single-season school baseball
records with five shutouts and a 0.55 earned run average while
posting a 6-0 record in leading the Pointers to the 1967 conference
title. He carries the school�s best career earned run average at
1.27 and had a 13-5 career record. Ritzenthaler ranks fourth in
school history with 16 complete games and was a first-team
all-conference performer in 1967. The Baraboo native played
basketball for two seasons and was the team captain in 1966-67. |

Steph
Sobieck - Softball - 1987-90
Sobieck ranks third all-time in
Pointer history with 165 career strikeouts and 35 career victories.
She also is second in school history with 502 1/3 innings pitched
and completed 68 of her 69 career starts to rank second in school
history in complete games. Sobieck was an all-conference performer
in 1989 and 1990, while pitching the Pointers to the 1990 conference
crown. A Denmark native, she owns the only seven-inning perfect game
in school history, coming against UW-La Crosse on April 23, 1990. |

Nan
Werdin - Swimming - 1991-94
Werdin
was a three-time All-American and won 12
conference titles during her career from 1991-94. She won the
200-yard butterfly in each of her four seasons and was a three-time
titlist in the 400-yard individual medley, while also winning the
100-yard butterfly in 1993 and four relay titles. In addition to her
All-American accolades, the Roseville, Minn. native was a 10-time
honorable mention All-American and still owns the school record in
the 200-yard butterfly. |

Virgil
Thiesfeld - Faculty Athletics Representative
Thiesfeld was the faculty
athletics representative to the WIAC, NCHA and NCAA for 22 years.
Thiesfeld was highly respected throughout the conference for his
knowledge of NCAA and WIAC eligibility rules. Still a strong
supporter of Pointer athletics, Thiesfeld retired in 1999 and taught
in the Biology department for 34 years. The Glencoe, Minn. native
was inducted into the Luther College Athletics Hall of Fame in 1988,
having competed in track and field and gymnastics. |
