In 2006 Stuart Morris was invited to participate in a sculpture workshop in Katzow Germany. Time and nature, growth, decay and political structures are all considerations of this piece gestern und morgen. The final piece requires the planting of trees on either side of the central column. In its final state the piece suggests a race between the decaying wood in the center and the growing trees that will be on the ends, a race to hold the large metal piece aloft.
