Letterpress on Root River Mill abaca papers; bound on vellum tapes; contains a tape of Osceola Mays reciting her poems and singing spirituals; edition 75; 7 1/2” x 5 x 2”, case, closed. This book is the memoir of an octogenarian African American East Texas woman, who, as a girl, made up poems. The book tells us about growing up black and poor in East Texas. For exhibition purposes only, a video of Mays’ life is available as well. Out of print.
