About
Susan Morrison comes to UWSP from a range of experiences in various colleges and universities nationally. Her teaching has focused on the Foundation courses: Two Dimensional Design, Three Dimensional Design and Drawing. As Foundation Coordinator at UWSP, Professor Morrison is responsible for developing curriculum at the foundation level. She finds the sense of germination and growth in the beginning student to be an exciting arena.
Her own work develops from her personal experiences: the confluence of emotions and energy that create our lives. Working both two dimensionally in large scale oil on canvas works, three dimensionally with steel and fabric, and with a body of work in thrown ceramic forms she conceives in color and shape a visual dialogue. The physical nature of the paint, the steel, the fabric and the clay are intrinsic to her working process. Extracted from (human) nature in an elemental form, Morrison creates a language, a language which is both personal and universal.
