Al Thompson Jr. named new VC for Student Affairs
The new vice chancellor for Student Affairs, Al Thompson Jr., has returned to Wisconsin in his new role at UWSP. Previously he was the dean of Student Life and associate vice president for Student Affairs at Washington University, but he worked at UW-Platteville and UW-LaCrosse for 10 years each.
UWSP's Strategic Plan set
UWSP has a new plan that will guide its mission, vision, values and goals for the future. Divided into four sections, the plan includes initiatives and action steps that will serve as a roadmap.
Cupola getting a facelift
The cupola atop Old Main, UWSP's well-known campus symbol, is getting a facelift throughout the fall to improve its exterior as well as its lighting system.
Military Science moves into new space
The Military Science Department, once housed in seperate areas of the Student Services Center and Health Enhancement Center, has a new, central location as its home.
NADF promotes aquaculture
UWSP's Northern Aquaculture Demonstration Facility is promoting aquaculture in a variety of ways, including working with the aquaponics industry, local tribe members, fish farmers and the Wisconsin Aquaculture Association.
New TNR mural dedicated Sept. 30
A new mosaic mural installed in the west lobby of the Trainer Natural Resources Building was dedicated on Friday, September 30. The 20’ by 5’ mural was designed by UWSP student Jennifer Lila, an art major from Stevens Point.
Theatre and Dance season announced
The talented students and faculty of the Theatre and Dance Department will bring audiences to their feet as they present the 2011-12 Theatre and Dance season in UWSP's Jenkins and Studio theatres.
Ryan Wilson memorialized
Ryan Wilson, a wildlife and biology major who died in May 2010, was remembered with the donation of a new Leupold spotting scope to be used at Treehaven Field Station.
Timbersports Team wins first championship
The UWSP student chapter of the Society of American Foresters Timbersports Team won its first ever championship trophy and eight other individual or team championships at the STIHL Collegiate Midwest Challenge held in April of this year.
Public art created by UWSP students
Works of art created by UWSP students have been installed on campus and at Goerke Park, the home Pointer football stadium.
