Major:
Elementary
Education and
English
Education
Hometown:
Burlington, WI (I went to
the same H.S. as Tony Romo!)
Where do you
live?
Currently off-campus, but I lived on
campus for 3 years and I loved every minute of it.
Dorm life, for me, was amazing and I really miss it. The
people who live around you may become your best friends.
I know I loved hanging out with our group of friends and we
still keep in contact even though we haven’t lived together for
two years.
Extracurricular/Campus Activities:
I love
intramurals…trenchball is an amazing stress reliever!
When I am not studying I love just getting together with
friends. When it is warm
out we go for bike rides on the
Green Circle
Trail.
Oh…and Pointer
Hockey games are sooo much fun.
Why did you
choose to attend UWSP?
Not to be cheesy or anything, but I just had a feeling like I
belonged here when I took a tour my senior year in high school.
And it turns out I was right - I love it here.
Favorite UWSP memory:
I went on a freshman orientation trip called
Pathways to Point.
I went canoeing and fishing for a week up north in
Michigan and it was the best week of my college career.
I met 8 other incoming freshmen and I am still friends
with most of them.
It was so much fun and so worth it.
What do you like most about going to
UWSP?
I love being able to make a walk from one
part of campus to another and almost always seeing someone that
I know. This campus is
not small, yet not big.
It is the perfect size for me.
What do you like best about the Stevens Point community?
The community loves the college kids.
The businesses and families seem to enjoy having us
around.
How has your interaction with professors benefited your
education?
The Education Department has the most amazing
faculty. They are always
there to help you and their goal is to see you succeed.
They are a huge reason of why I am where I am today.
What are your career goals?
After I graduate I will hopefully
have my own classroom in the Fall of 2010.
How has UWSP prepared you for your future?
I have acquired amazing ideas and information that
will hopefully make me a great teacher some day.
I have also gained people skills that I will use in the
future. Also, as a requirement of the education program we have
to spend a certain amount of hours in the schools.
I have met many teachers who have given me tips and
advice.
What advice would you give to a new UWSP student?
You get out of college what you put
into it. That doesn’t
mean that you have to study 24/7, but it does mean that you need
to do the work that is expected of you.
College is different than high school because your
professors will not beg you for your homework.
Get your priorities straight right away! My biggest regret
about my time at UWSP is not
studying abroad.
If you want to do it, DO IT!
You will regret it if you don’t.
