Hometown:
Chilton, WI

Extracurricular/Campus Activities:

I’m the chair of UWSP’s Relay for Life (a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society) and coordinate volunteers for a Boys & Girls Club after school program.
I’m also involved in the Polish Club and the Student Council for Social Studies.

Why did you choose to attend UWSP?
I was interested in health and nutrition and began my college career as a dietetics student.

Favorite Event on Campus:
UWSP’s Relay for Life in April

What do you like most about going to UWSP?
I think UWSP is the perfect size.  It is large enough that you can remain anonymous if you wish but also small enough that you can get to know a large proportion of the student body.  I also like the campus and community emphasis on sustainability.

Favorite Professor:
I can’t name a favorite.  I have had many great professors; some are great teachers, researchers or just always willing to help their students succeed.  Professors have helped me with letters of recommendation, scholarships and other awards.  I’m also working one-on-one with a professor to write a senior honors thesis, an experience that will be very beneficial in my future academics.

What do you like best about the Stevens Point community?
I love the fact that Stevens Point is a safe community.  I feel safe walking alone at any time of the day or night.  I also enjoy the variety of small businesses Stevens Point has to offer.

What are your career goals?
I want to teach English abroad.  I plan to do this either through the Peace Corps, a non-governmental non-profit agency or independently through a school.  Upon returning, I plan to attend graduate school.

How has UWSP prepared you for your future?
My writing and researching skills have improved so much.  I’ve also met teachers through conferences and volunteering and built relationships with many people in the community through volunteer work.

What advice would you give to a new UWSP student?
If you’ve ever thought about studying abroad – do it!  Even if you’ve never thought about it – start thinking!  Studying abroad is an amazing experience.  Such a large percentage of UWSP students study abroad because International Programs has a wide variety of trip locations, dates and lengths and makes paying and preparing for the trip as uncomplicated as possible.  Studying abroad is truly the experience of a lifetime!
