Major:

minors
Hometown:
Jackson, WI
Extracurricular/Campus Activities:
I am involved
with Inter-Greek Council,
Delta Phi
Epsilon Sorority, and
Public
Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). I am also the
Student Manager at the Student Involvement and Employment
Office. Between that, work, and class I don’t have a lot of
free time, but when I do I like
to hang out with my friends
and family. I like to go to concerts and movies, do
crafts such as scrapbooking and knitting, and bake.
Why did you
choose to attend UWSP?
I came to UWSP with the intent to study interior architecture.
After a year of the program, I realized it wasn’t for me, but I
did not want to leave my relationships
with friends and
professors at UWSP behind. That is when I switched to the
Communication Department.
Favorite event on campus:
The Homecoming parade and festivities are a blast! I like to see
everyone really pumped up with UWSP spirit. I also really enjoy
SIEO’s Make Life Sweeter fundraiser. $5.00 gets you into a room
full of delicious treats. I’m a chocoholic.
What do you like most about going to
UWSP?
I like how easy it is to get to know other
students, faculty, and staff at UWSP. Everyone is really
friendly.
Favorite hangout spot on campus:
The Brewhaus! It has a great atmosphere and is a good place to
chill out in between classes. I love that each month they come
up with a different specialty drink. Their sweet and spicy chai
tea is the best!
How has your interaction with
professors benefited your education?
The smaller class sizes at UWSP allow for a lot of interaction
between professors and students. If I have a question, I know I
can ask in class or stop by the professor’s office during their
office hours. I like being able to get one-on-one assistance if
I need it. Also, in upper level courses you begin to have the
same professor for multiple courses. They become great
references because they know the quality of your work.
What do you like best about the Stevens Point community?
The people and the food! I love that within one
street downtown there is Mediterranean, Chinese, Mexican, subs
and traditional American bar food. And the farmer’s market is a
great place to get fresh produce in the summer and fall.
What are your career goals?
Ideally, I would love to plan events
for a non-profit arts-based organization on the east coast.
How has UWSP prepared you for your future?
I have gained many skills outside of the
classroom. My involvement in student organizations and my job
have taught me how to manage my time wisely, communicate
effectively with others, and be professional. My position at the
Student Involvement
and Employment Office is great “real world” experience for
after college.
What advice would you give to a new UWSP student?
Don’t be afraid to get involved
outside of the classroom. Join student organizations and hold
officer positions. The experiences you gain will go a long way.
Also, if you are thinking about studying abroad, do it. I went
to
