Major:
Instrumental Music Education and
Clarinet Performance
Hometown:
Denmark, WI
Extracurricular/Campus Activities:
I am a member of
Delta Omicron, a co-ed music fraternity, and I also play
intramural
volleyball.
Why did you
choose to attend UWSP?
I chose to come to UWSP because when I came on my campus tour
everyone seemed really excited about the idea that I might be
coming here. I met with a few professors who seemed genuinely
interested in what I wanted to do with my life. It was a good
vibe and seemed like a place where I could fit in.
Do you have a job?
I work at the
Student Involvement and Employment Office as a Student
Assistant. I help people find jobs on and off campus, as well as
help with the student organizations. I also work at Kohl’s on
the weekend.
Favorite Place on Campus:
The Brewhaus - they have the best bagels on campus! You can do
anything from studying, socializing, reading, napping to eating
or just hang out!
What do you
like most about going to UWSP?
I LOVE being able to walk around campus and see
people that I know. The campus is big enough to meet new people,
but small enough to get the chance to become friends with them.
I also love how the professors truly care about the students.
We aren’t just numbers here. It’s nice to know that you can go
straight to your professor if you ever need help.
What's the best class you've taken?
The best class I’ve had thus far has to be my freshman music
theory course. It was the first glimpse that I had at the world of music. I
never realized that there were this many people interested in all of the
same things I was! It was a definite eye-opener and I met a lot of awesome
people.
What are your career goals?
I plan on continuing my education. I want to one
day be in a major Symphony Orchestra, and also have my own clarinet studio.
I would also love to be a professor at a University at some point in my
life.
What’s the best event that takes place on campus?
The
Involvement Fair. It’s a great way to meet new people who share the
same interests as you - it’s perfect! And you can expand your interests and
try something new.
What advice would you give to a new UWSP student?
Get involved!! It is the best way to make new
friends and make the transition into college a good one. And it’s super easy
to get involved with things that you’re passionate about. And also, do your
homework!!
