New Freshman Orientation

"Welcoming a New Generation of Pointers"

Summer Orientation 2008

Orientation is designed to calm your nerves, answer your questions, and prepare you for the many exciting challenges that await you at UWSP.  You will be welcomed by an enthusiastic staff that will inform you of university programs and services, and acquaint you with the campus. To register for your fall semester classes, you MUST ATTEND one Monday/Tuesday or Wednesday/Thursday orientation session or the final session in August.  Orientation is when you meet with your academic advisor and choose/register for classes.

Parents/Family

Your involvement in Orientation is important, not just for the support that it provides your student, but for the wealth of information tailored specifically to your questions/concerns.  We address academic requirements, degree planning, and academic advising.  You will also be given information on academic support programs, billing, health and counseling services, career counseling, dining options, residence hall living, rules and regulations, safety issues, and adjustment to the University environment.  You will be able to meet with faculty, staff and students as well as other parents.  The one and a half days are busy, informative, and anxiety reducing for many parents.  You will be able to share common concerns with other parents while getting all of your important questions answered.  We sincerely encourage you to accompany your son or daughter to Orientation, but you are not required to attend.
