Introduction
The Web and Digital Media Development (WDMD) major provides a broad, comprehensive, and technologically focused program of study that includes courses in computer information systems, business, professional writing, and specific WDMD courses with electives such as game development and animation.

Why Study Web and Digital Media Development at UW-Stevens Point?
Technology is at the heart of this program, which emphasizes design and use of Internet-related technology. In most courses technology is the primary content, e.g., web design and digital imaging, while in a few courses, such as business writing and principles of management, computers are support tools rather than the focus of instruction. WDMD majors will have significant contact with area business people during their time as students through guest lecturers from industry, internship experiences, and the web development senior seminar.

High School Preparation
Build a good background in science, math, and computers in high school. Courses in object-oriented programming and web creation would be useful.

Department Features
UWSP has long had a technology focus. Computer networks link all the rooms in the residence halls, and computer labs exist in every classroom building. So computer access is easy. So is access to professionals in the field. Paid internships, arranged with the assistance of the department, are a part of many students' programs.

Employment Opportunity
The job prospects for WDMD graduates are excellent in areas such as web site development and administration, web and digital graphic design, media-based education and training, digital music production, and e-commerce.
