Do you live on campus?
This is my first year off campus but I lived on campus for 3 years. When I lived on campus I spent 2 years in
May Roach Hall
(one year as a Diversity Advocate), one semester in Smith Hall as a
Community Advisor, and one semester in Neale Hall as Historian in Hall
Government. The thing I loved most about it was all the people.
Do you have a job?
Yes, I have several. I am an Admissions Office Student Assistant,
Student Coordinator of Multicultural Conferences, Tour Guide and
Assistant to the Director for Explore Your Talents.
Why did you choose to attend UWSP?
UWSP felt like home. I could really see myself spending 4 to 5 years
here and being happy. The people are amazing and the opportunities you
can receive are great.
Favorite event on campus:
Soul Food Dinner – every February put on by the Black Student Union.
There is always great food for a cheap price. And any Pointer sports
game – they are amazing to watch……. GO POINTERS!!!!!!!!!
Best spot to hang out on campus:
The MCRC, which is the
Multicultural Resource Center. It gives you a chance to connect with a lot of different people from all over the place.
How have your professors benefited your time at UWSP?
Faculty are always willing to help you. I find myself happier about my
grades in classes due to the fact that I can lean on my professors to
help me. All I have to do is ask or raise my hand. One of my first
professors knew I had the potential to do my best in her class and she
pushed me to a point where I had never been pushed before.
What advice would you give to a new UWSP student?
Wherever you attend college go with an open mind. This is your time to
explore who you are and find out the real you. Some of the friends you
know now will no longer be in your life but that only gives room for
even more and greater friendships that last a lifetime.
