New Student Orientation Program Fees

Program

The Orientation program in covered in part by a $175.00 matriculation fee that covers Orientation programming costs including all printed student and parent materials, a continental breakfast on Day One, all refreshment breaks, and parking.  In addition to Orientation programming, the matriculation fee also covers Convocation, First Experience programming, and Commencement.  Please note that the matriculation fee is a one-time fee that appears on the student's first tuition bill.

Meals (optional)

Meals during Orientation are available for purchase at $20.00 per person.  This includes lunch and dinner on Day One and breakfast on Day Two of the Orientation program.  All meals are served in the Debot Dining Center, one of our student dining facilities on campus.  Debot offers an all-you-care-to-eat dining experience with a variety of options, including several hot entrees, a dessert bar, a fruit and yogurt bar, a salad bar, and other hot and cold refreshments.  Meals can be purchased ahead of time or upon arrival at Orientation.  You may also purchase individual meals during check-in on the morning of Orientation.

Lodging (optional)

Lodging for Orientation guests is available in Baldwin Hall (building #68 on the campus map) at $18.00 per person per night.  Baldwin Hall is air-conditioned for your comfort and linens, blankets and pillows are provided for your convenience.  You may check-in to Baldwin Hall anytime during the two-day Orientation session.
If you need to arrive the night before the program, you may check in at Baldwin Hall between 6:30 p.m. and midnight.  Please note that an additional night of lodging is also available at $18.00 per person per night.  Individuals staying in Baldwin Hall the night before the program will need to park in Lot P.  You will receive your parking permit upon check-in at Baldwin Hall.

Please note that parents and students do not stay in the same room.  Parents/guests that register together will be housed together.  If only one parent/guest is attending, he/she will be housed with another parent/guest of the same gender.

Students: If you wish to be housed with a friend during Orientation, please send your registration forms and payments in the same envelope.

If you prefer the comforts of a local hotel, a list of hotels can be found at the Stevens Point Visitors' Bureau.

Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellations for meals and lodging can be made at any time; however, in order to receive a refund, the cancellation request must be made two WEEKS in advance of the scheduled orientation date.  If a student does not show up for his or her scheduled Orientation session, he or she will automatically be placed in the final orientation session in July.  Please plan accordingly when choosing Orientation sessions.

Please note that Orientation is a self-sustaining program and it not supported by University, State, or Federal tax dollars.  Charges for food and housing reflect direct costs and are paid directly to UWSP Dining Services and Residential Living, respectively.  Other costs include materials, orientation staff (peer mentors), refreshments, and parking.
