Background

In the fall of 2007, Chancellor Bunnell created the Sustainability Task Force to achieve the goals set forth in the Chancellor's Climate Commitment as well as other campus sustainability issues.

Short Term Goals:

  • Evaluate the sustainability initiatives set forth by the UWSP Sustainability Committee and determine which should continue and which should be phased out.
  • Select at least two of the tangible actions from the ACUPCC Implementation Guide by November 15, 2007 and create a plan to have them implemented by  2009.
  • Complete a greenhouse gas inventory by September, 2008 as outlined in the ACUPCC Implementation Guide.
  • Establish a climate neutrality action plan and take some immediate steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Make UWSP’s climate action plan, inventory, and progress reports publicly available.  Submit yearly reports to me.

Long Term:

  • Identifying methods to integrate sustainability into the curriculum
  • Develop a climate action plan and initiate two or more of the seven tangible actions described in the Commitment by September 15, 2009
