Welcome

Welcome to the Center for Academic Excellence and Student Engagement website.  The Center’s mission is to inspire and advance outstanding and innovative teaching on the UWSP campus. To that end, this website contains information on a range of topics dealing with teaching and learning.

The Teaching Resources section provides ideas for improving student learning in the classroom and the online environment. There is a profile of students today and ideas about teaching to a diverse group of people. New faculty members will find ideas for getting started with syllabi, determining learning outcomes for their courses, and designing courses with those learning outcomes in mind.

The Events section announces discussion forums, reading seminars, conferences, and workshops here at UWSP, in the UW System, and nationally. The Center also offers Anytime, Anywhere Professional Development with webcasts about a wide variety of teaching-learning topics.

The Grants/CFPs pages list grant offerings from OPID, UW System, and others. Faculty members seeking opportunities for promoting their research and expertise will want to visit the Calls for Proposals page from time to time.

A growing concern at UWSP and across the nation is assessment of student learning. The Assessment page provides resources to stimulate thinking and innovation about this on our campus.

The Service-Learning section is a guide for those who like to include Service-Learning in their courses. There are links to the Service-Learning Faculty Handbook, articles and books, and examples of service-learning at UWSP.

The News page contains announcements about UWSP faculty activities.

The Resources page is a quick way to find the resource recommendations made on other pages.

So, whether you are here for some particular bit of information or just browsing, we hope you will visit this site again and again.
