Communication in the Major:
Oral Communication Training
The GEP includes a Communication in the Major requirement that is embedded in each major on campus. Instructors offering Communication in the Major courses are required to complete a training, which has two components: Written Communication and Oral Communication.

Created and managed by Cade Spaulding (Division of Communication), the Oral Communication training is now available in an online self-paved module. This module is located on D2L and addresses the following learning outcomes:
As a result of
completing the Oral Communication training module, participants
will be able to:
Identify basic skills and understandings students have about content, structure, and delivery after taking Communication 101
- Recognize common oral communication obstacles and how to avoid them
- Develop alternative oral communication activities to the “student presentation” default for current course offerings
- Create customized assessment rubrics based on established AAC&U’s VALUE rubrics
