TAPPI PAPER EXPRESS PROGRAM AT UWSP

WHO ARE WE?

In 1995, the Paper Science student affiliation implemented a program developed by International TAPPI, called Paper Express. The Paper Express Program provides an educational opportunity for elementary, middle and high school students to learn the basic concepts of papermaking and the importance of the paper industry.

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

During the course of the school year, paper science students volunteer their time to support two sections of the Paper Express Program, the Elementary Program and the High School program. We bring the program to the elementary schools in the Stevens Point, WI area throughout the school year and present the high school program here at UW-Stevens Point in the spring. The following presents an outline of each program.

HOW ARE WE DOING THIS?
We have been able to implement the Paper Express Program by utilizing the educational materials provided by International TAPPI, along with funding for program equipment by Lake States TAPPI and the work of the paper science students and faculty.
