Software Overview


The following categories define Software at UWSP:

Standard Campus Load (SCL) Software

Software used as part of the Technology Infrastructure on campus.  Includes:  Windows Operating System, KeyServer, Exchange Server, Microsoft Office, Norton Anti Virus, Server Licenses, Server Backup Software, etc.  This software is Campus and/or Information Technology funded and is deployed by Information Technology as part of the base computing environment.

Inter-College Software

Software used by more than one College.

Funding Sources        

This software is requested through UTC and approved choices are funded from the Inter-College Software Fund.

Purchasing Procedure

 UTC approved products are purchased by Information Technology Purchasing. 

Installation Procedure

UTC approved products are installed by Information Technology Applications Manager.

College Software and CourseWare

Software used within a College, Department or Course

Funding Sources        

College monies including Mini-Grants, Intra-College Software Funds, etc. or Department monies.

Purchasing Procedure

The College Support Team and Information Technology Purchasing can advise you about contracts, special pricing, currently owned software, etc.  After this consultation, software can be purchased by IT Purchasing or by individual Faculty, Staff or Departments. 

Installation Procedure          

Work with your College Support Team Person (for Faculty/Staff workstations) and IT Applications Manager (for Labs).

Individual Use Software

Software for an individual workstation

Department monies or Technology MiniGrant

Purchasing Procedure           

The College Support Team and Information Technology Purchasing can advise you about contracts, special pricing, currently owned software, etc.  After this consultation, software can be purchased by IT Purchasing or by individual Faculty, Staff or Departments.
