Guest Logons (Community Visitors) Computer access for persons not associated
with UWSP
As part of the Stevens Point community, UWSP often shares its resources. In
the case of Network Access, UWSP has a program called "Community Visitors."
Members of the community can apply for a UWSP logon and password which will then
enable them to logon on to the designated computers located in the the reference
area of the library. From there they will be able to use the Internet, Library
catalogs, and software like Microsoft Word. They will not be able to print or
get an email account from UWSP as these services can only be provided for
students, faculty and staff. Accounts are not granted to minors and students
will receive priority usage of equipment. Applicants agree to abide by UWSP
Network Usage Policy
and violators will be denied further access to UWSP Computing.
To apply, a guest must go to the Information Technology Help Desk in 023
Learning Resources Center (LRC) during business hours (click
here for a map to the LRC). A picture ID must be presented when applying.
Requests will be processed within two business days if at all possible.
Community members who would like Internet access and email in their homes are
directed to an area
Internet Service Provider.
Community Visitors are not allowed to print, but can save their files to an
external storage device and take them to Printing and Design (Lower level of
Science, room D018) to be printed for a fee. Some local area businesses
also offer duplicating and printing services which can be found in the Yellow
Pages of the Stevens Point telephone directory.
