Email for all Employees
The University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point needs all employees* to have an
email address where it can send University-related business information. If the
employee is mainly based on campus then a University email account must be used.
However, to accommodate those employees that do not spend the majority of their
time on-campus, an established off-campus email address may be supplied to
Information Technology to use instead. The email account, whether on-campus or
off-campus in nature, must be read on a regular basis. The University is
required to deliver certain information to employees and must be assured
that it is received in a timely manner. Also other information pertinent
to the maintenance of employee email, logon and RAS accounts must be read. If an
employee chooses not to read the University-supplied email account at reasonable
intervals, then Information Technology will do the following to facilitate the
department to receive the employee's email for them:
Give permission to a designated person or persons who will be responsible for
adding the employee's email account into the designee's Outlook desktop so they
can read and send mail for that person without having the employee's email
actually being delivered to the designee's account. This prevents clutter in the
designee's Inbox and also doesn't take up the designee's email quota. The
designee will be responsible for printing out the mail for the employee and
delivering it to them in a reasonable manner.
All new accounts are now being created and processed through the
Campus Information Maintenance
System (CIMS). Please note that only
Department Information Managers
(DIMs) can request new employees. If an off campus email address is to be used
instead of an on campus one, the Postmaster
must be notified of that address.
*Employees here refers not only to persons actually employed by the
University, but also:
anyone maintaining an Emeritus appointment, any UWSP Affiliated person who
wants access to University-computer resources, and any retired faculty/staff
member who desires to maintain RAS, email or logon privileges after retirement.
