Conference Attendee Services


Attendees at conferences at UWSP have access to the following computer services:

EQUIPMENT - If you need equipment for a presentation you are doing as part of a conference, please make arrangements with the Conference and Reservations office ahead of time.   If you are using equipment hooked up to the UWSP Network, you will need a logon to get connected.  

HELP DESK - The Information Technology Help Desk Hours are available http://www.uwsp.edu/it/help/.  If you have questions about technology services or need help, stop by 023 LRC or call 346-HELP (4357) or 1-877-832-8977.

LOGON ID- A Community Visitor Logon will allow a person to logon to the UWSP network (wired and wireless) and get to the Internet from computers on campus including the Public Computer Labs and the Dawgnet computers located throughout the campus.   Visit the Information Technology Help Desk in 023 LRC to obtain a Community Visitor Logon.  Logons are not granted to minors and a picture ID is required.

PHONE SERVICE IN THE RES HALL ROOMS If you want to use UWSP long distance phone services while you are on campus, visit the Telephone Office web page and click on "UWSP Visitor Info" for more information.

PRINTING in the public computer labs are for currently enrolled students only.   Printing and Design in the basement of the Science building will print documents for visitors for a fee.  Printing may be granted for some conferences if requested by the responsible department

RES HALL ROOM INTERNET ACCESS  - If you plan to stay in the Residence Halls, you may be able to access the Internet in your room via a Network Connection (you must have a network card in your computer and Windows XP or Vista or Max OS 10 to do this.  We do not support older versions of Windows or Mac OS).  Visit the ResNet Office in 068 DeBot Center to obtain a Community Visitor Logon and to pick-up a network cable to be able to use the Internet in your room.

Or you can connect your computer and modem to the phone line in the room and dial out using a "9,," and your calling card number.  If you don't have a calling card and want to use UWSP long distance phone service, visit the Telephone Office web page and click on "UWSP Visitor Info" for more information. You should check with your ISP ahead of time to find out how to access your account from Stevens Point (there are no local numbers for AOL, MSN and other services).

UWSP WEB - The extensive UWSP Web Site is available for anyone using a Community Visitor logon or from anywhere you have Internet access.

WIRELESS SERVICES are available to any guest that has a portable device equipped with a compatible wireless network card.  A community visitor logon is required to access the wireless network.  Wireless is available in all of our academic buildings and in our residence hall public spaces (basement study lounge and lobby lounge).  Wireless network is not available in resident rooms. setup instructions please see: http://www.uwsp.edu/it/wireless. (Please note:  At this time we do not support PDA's)
