Health Care Administration Option

The educational field of health care administration is highly diverse as evidenced by its multidisciplinary nature; programs can be found within schools of nursing, public health, medicine, allied health, and other health professions. Here at UWSP, students selecting the health care administration option within the Health Science major will be prepared with the initial education required for professional careers in health services management located within a variety of health care settings. This baccalaureate degree will provide the liberal arts foundation for future leaders in health care who desire to serve others and make a difference through dedicated practice and efficient management of resources.

Coursework in the health administration option spans four key areas. The human science core consists of biological, psychosocial, and physical sciences. The health care core includes medical terminology, health care industry finance, and leadership and management with an emphasis on interdisciplinary practice. The administrative core includes business, accounting and computer information system courses. The general degree requirements complete the liberal education.
