Christina Peterson begins her third year as the head
coach of UW-Stevens Point women's cross country and track
and field programs during the 2007-08 season after
continuing the program's recent success during her first two
seasons with the Pointers.
Peterson, who competed collegiately at Iowa State and most
recently, was a graduate assistant coach at Division II
Northwest Missouri State, led the Pointers' cross country
team to a 10th place finish at the 2005 NCAA Division III
championships and a runner-up finish in the Wisconsin
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference during her first season.
Peterson also helped several UW-Stevens Point athletes
qualify for the NCAA Division III indoor and outdoor track
and field championships during her inaugural season. In
2007, the Pointers set outdoor school records in both the
400-meter and 1600-meter relays and had All-American
performances during both the indoor and outdoor seasons.
A Midland, Mich. native, Peterson earned a Bachelor of
Science in Sport Management from Iowa State in 2003 and
worked one season as a volunteer assistant coach with the
Cyclones’ women’s track and field team. She spent the next
two seasons as a graduate assistant track and field coach at
Northwest Missouri State while earning a Master’s Degree in
Education. She also teaches classes in UW-Stevens Point’s
Department of Health Exercise, Science and Athletics.
