• Contact your state's guarantor (probably the servicer of your loan). They can tell you details about the status of your account—how much borrowed and how much you must repay:
  
  
  • In Wisconsin: Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation (GLHEC) or National Education Loan Network (Nelnet)
    
    
  • In Indiana & some other states: United Student Aid Funds (USAF)
    
    
  • In Illinois: Illinois Student Assistance Corporation (ISAC)

• Take advantage of any special repayment incentive plans off offered by your lender—they can save you big money!
  
  
  • Ask about automatic loan repayment from your checking account (reduces interest cost by 1/4%)
    
    

  • Ask if there is a reward for 24 or 48 consecutive, on-time repayments (repays origination fee or reduces future interest by full 2%)
