Course Description: EDUC 200 is the first of a series of classes that teach
students how to develop an effective electronic professional portfolio.
This course includes principles on the development of an effective portfolio to
support graduation requirements, job hunting and professional teacher
development. Principles of web page construction and software use are
included. Privacy issues, Performance Tasks, Wisconsin Teacher Standards,
content area standards, and WI Department of Public Instruction teacher
licensing and certification will also be discussed.

Course Objectives:
1
Students will understand the concept and
purpose of an electronic professional portfolio.

Students will understand the basic
software and design processes of creating an electronic professional portfolio.
3
Students’ portfolios will reflect
understanding of the above through fulfilling the course requirements.
Course Requirements:
Students
are required
to attend one (1) of the four organizational meeting times (see above).
Failure to attend could result in your being dropped from the course.

Students will create a “Welcome” page that includes a
background, appropriate lettering size style and colors, a table, at least two
pictures, and a link to the School of Education (SOE) portfolio, and other
links or added background / philosophy information appropriate to their
professional academic programs.

Students will successfully download the
SOE templates for the electronic
portfolio.

Students will add personal information
to the “Introduction” page of the
SOE portfolio, including a picture.

Students will create links to the three pages listed below and located them on
the “Subject Knowledge” page of the
SOE portfolio:
a A chart showing
the Performance Tasks for their
respective majors and minors
b A list of the 10 Wisconsin Teacher Standards
c A list of the content area standards for their
respective majors

When all requirements have been completed, send a working link to your "Welcome" page to
Dr. Riggs.
Due Date for all requirements is as follows:
Students who complete and submit the assignments by October 22 or before will
receive an A; by November 5 will receive a B: by November 19 will receive a C;
a grade of Incomplete will be issued to all later submissions.
