The School of Education announces the availability of the following scholarships to recognize high scholastic achievement and dedication to the profession of teaching. The scholarships have been made possible by people involved and interested in the welfare of education. If you think you qualify for any of the scholarships listed, watch for further information. Applications and more detailed descriptions are sent via e-mail to all "teaching intent" students and are posted outside 470 CPS during the spring semester (February) of every year.

All applications must include:

• A newly printed copy of degree progress report

• A copy of current class schedule

• Letters of recommendation from two faculty - required

• A maximum of two additional letters of reference from other persons (optional)

• A short essay stating why you believe you are qualified for the award(s)

• A photo (may be a copy of student i.d.)

JERRY E. BAIRD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This award is made possible by Mary Ann Baird, widow of Jerry E. Baird.  Mary Ann Baird is a faculty emeritus of UWSP Division of Interior Architecture.

KIM COUNSELL FUTURE TEACHER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This award was established by Tommy Bartlett, Inc., in 1979.
REQUIREMENTS:
  Admitted to the P.E.P.
  Early Childhood/Elementary Education major

  Has evidence of service to young children
  Minimum GPA of 3.50

HARRIET COEY DICKMANN FUTURE TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP
This award was established by the family of Harriet Dickmann in her memory.

DR. BARBARA INCH SCHOLARSHIP FOR NON-TRADITIONAL WOMEN

Dr. Inch was a non-traditional student.  She and her friends and relatives established this fund to honor her retirement in year 2000 after over 30 years of service with UWSP.

OSCAR W. NEALE ELEMENTARY EDUCATION MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This award is made possible by contributions of family and friends in memory of Oscar Neale.

  Junior or senior status in fall; majoring in Elementary Education
  Demonstrate interest in incorporating creativity and art education into teaching methodology

  Financial need will be considered in event of a tie

  Special consideration may be given to student whose gender or race is under-represented in his/her chosen teaching discipline

         - Person of exemplary and optimistic character
