Testing and Placement

You will be tested during orientation to determine which of our four levels of instruction best meets your needs. This initial placement examination covers grammar, vocabulary, speaking, reading, listening, and composition. You will take similar tests at the end of every session to assess your progress.

Placement for students continuing in the ESL Program is determined by grades earned and teacher recommendations; decisions regarding placement and advancement within the ESL Program are made jointly by the ESL Program Director and instructors.

Once placed in an appropriate level, students are expected to attend classes and complete assignments. Those who fail to maintain satisfactory progress may be asked to withdraw from the ESL Program.
