My name is Dr. Gary Cumley, and as the Associate Dean and Chair of the School of Communicative Disorders and the Center for Communicative Disorders, I would like to welcome you to our website.

I am excited that you are taking time to take a tour of our department and learn more about our program here at UWSP. You will find our facility to be spacious, which provides our students with a positive learning environment both academically, as well as clinically. The faculty and staff have diverse professional experiences along with having outstanding credentials. They are all committed to provide both our undergraduates and graduate students with the knowledge and practicum experiences necessary to ensure a successful career in Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology. With our small student-to-faculty ratio, our State of the Art Augmentative and Alternative Communication equipment, large and current Clinical Media Center, Speech Science Lab equipment, and instructional technology help to support student excellence. UWSP is a comprehensive university, which means that our faculty and staff are committed to teaching excellence. In addition, our faculty strives to involve students cooperatively within independent scholarly activities, such as research projects, professional publications, and professional presentations.

The masters program in speech-language pathology has received accreditation from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) from June 2001 through May 2009 and the collaborative AuD program with the University of Wisconsin-Madison has been awarded candidacy status from the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. Receiving this national accreditation from ASHA assures students of high standards and quality within the School of Communicative Disorders at UWSP.
