To learn about climate change, check out the EPA Global Warming Site. The site has up-to-date information on the climate system; greenhouse gas emissions; impacts of climate change; and actions that can be taken at the national, state, local, business, and individual levels.

Get Smart About Energy

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy's (EERE) Energy Education Web site provides many educational resources. Their interactive Get Smart About Energy site offers hundreds of lesson plans and activities. They also provide project ideas, student contests, career information, and many other resources for teachers, students, parents, school administrators, home owners, and energy professionals.  

Global Warming: Early Warning Signs Map on the Web

Global Warming: Early Warning Signs Map is a poster-sized map of the world, which illustrates global climate change. The map was produced by the Union of Concerned Scientists with 6 other environmental groups. The Web site also includes a link to a Curriculum Guide to use with the global map.

There is also a built in calculator for adding up the costs of different materials in building an efficient home. Lots of links to related sites on building for energy efficiency. Go to Energy Matters for history of energy use, a discussion board on energy use, and the most excellent game: Crisis! Find out how all those gadgets work in your home when you visit World of Electronics for Children.

University of Oregon, Dept. of Environmental Studies

UO offers a number of courses online. Two offered through the environmental studies department deal with energy, for undergraduates. "Physics of Energy and The Environment" (Physics 161) covers general principles of energy. "Alternative Energy Sources" (Physics 162) covers renewable and alternative forms of energy, and can be taken for credit over the internet!

A site for kids developed by the The Danish Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association. This site is very interactive, educational, and a lot of fun.

This event is an international electric vehicle race for high school students. This page gives you updated information about the race and the vehicles, and how you can be a part of it.
