Technology in Interpretation

Results: Determine Computer Skills to Teach   

Home

            By reviewing the past incorporation of technology into the interpretation program and the current needs of students, the researcher and graduate committee agreed that two training modules would benefit the program: digital presentation skills and desktop publishing skills.  

The following figure summarizes the two training modules that teach technology skills in each of the interpretation courses.

1.   Digital Presentation Module
       Oral Interpretation Methods (NR 368/568) / Park   Interpretation (NR 367/567)
  • Digital presentation skills (Microsoft PowerPoint)
  • Digital presentation equipment (scanners, projectors, cordless mouse)
  • Interpretive skills with digital presentations
2.  Desktop Publishing Module
  Signs, Trails, and Waysides (NR 363/563) / Environmental Publications (NR 364/564)
  • Page layout skills
    • QuarkXpress
    • Microsoft Publisher
  • Graphic editing skills
    • Paint Shop Pro
    • Adobe Photoshop
  • Desktop publishing equipment (flatbed scanners, slide scanners, printers, CD-burners, Zip drives, digital cameras)
