Lake Trail

The 1-mile Lake Trail is one of the most popular trails in the Reserve.  It loops around the 24-acre Lake Joanis.  The trail offers spectacular views of the lake and island, and provides many opportunities to get up close to the water.  Several benches and beaches make the trail a favorite place for sunbathing, fishing, studying, and relaxing.  The lake is accessible from several entrances along Maria Drive and Michigan Avenue, or from trails that start at the visitor center.
