Educational Resources
Schmeeckle Reserve is an
outdoor classroom and laboratory for the University of Wisconsin-Stevens
Point and other area schools.
Natural Resources and Biology students
test water quality, identify and measure trees, observe birds, study small
mammals, test soil, participate in law enforcement scenarios, and present
public programs. Other classes use the natural area for conducting
canoe, kayak, and snowshoe lessons, teaching wilderness survival, creating
natural sculptures, discovering regional history, and navigating with GPS
units. Several research projects developed by faculty, staff, and
students are conducted annually in the Reserve to expand our knowledge
base of natural resource management.
Explore these educational
resources for students, faculty, and the community to learn more about
Schmeeckle Reserve and central Wisconsin.
