Community Planning Status
Two towns in Jefferson County received $10,000 and $12,500 in grant money from the Wisconsin Department of Administration in 2001.   Contact your planning department for specific information or see the DOA website for other communities who are planning.
 

 
County Planning & Zoning Department
This department oversees community planning and administers zoning and subdivision regulations. It also administers and regulates state mandated shoreland requirements, floodplain regulations, wetland regulations and sanitary code regulations.

Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association, Inc. (WWOA)

A nonprofit educational organization which was established to:
        advance the interests of woodland owners and the cause of forestry,
        develop public appreciation for the value of Wisconsin's woodlands and
         their importance in the economy and overall welfare of the state,
        foster and encourage wise use and management of Wisconsin's woodlands for
         timber production, wildlife habitat and recreation, and
        educate those interested in managing Wisconsin's woodlands.

Wisconsin Family Forests (WFF) was organized to support private landowners that are interested in learning and applying the concepts of sustainable forestry. WFF consists of neighborhood alliances of local forest landowners that share their experiences and pool their needs for professional assistance and additional knowledge.

Wisconsin has nine State Forests (Wow!): Brule River, Northern Highland-American Legion, Peshtigo River, Governor Knowles, Black River, Flambeau River, Coulee Experimental, Point Beach and Kettle Moraine (North & South units).  Click on the map for a larger view.
