!Application To The CNR
Students who have completed 45 cr. and have a 2.00 GPA in major must apply for
formal acceptance into the College of Natural Resources. Application forms are
available in the CNR Student Success Center (CNR 180). The deadline for
applications is Sept. 28.
New Majors
New majors in Resource Management: Law Enforcement and Resource Management:
Policy are now available. Stop by CNR 180 to add these majors or to pick up the
planning sheets.
Help make sure the tax on your hunting and fishing equipment is going to
the right place!
To continue getting Wisconsin's share
of the federal excise tax you pay when you buy hunting and fishing equipment,
DNR needs to update its Fish, Wildlife and Habitat Management Plan for
2007-2013. You can help! Please take this

Costa Rica 2007-2008
The 3 credit Tropical Ecology winterim field course has 16 participants as of
Sept. 1. The limit is 25 students. It is imperative that if you are interested
and have not yet signed up to do so immediately as we will begin academic
preparation for the trip during fall semester. Please contact Ron Crunkilton,
Sara Windjue or stop by the International Programs Office if you have any

Hey CNR Students! EVERY WEEK SGA votes on legislation that directly affects you
as students! Let your CNR Senators know how YOU feel and what YOU want. Check
out our new board in the first floor, south hallway of the CNR (right by the
West Lobby). Share your thoughts and opinions on the latest legislation and take
time to express any concerns you have for UWSP. We are here to represent you!

American Water Resources Association (AWRA)
Meetings are every Tues. at 5pm in CNR 252.
The Wildlife Society
Welcome back everyone! Meetings will be held on Tuesdays at 5pm in CNR 170. Come and hear about all of our projects and
opportunities and meet the state chapter president Karl Martin! It is going to
be a great year so come to the first meeting on Tuesday to help us kick it off!
Society of American Foresters
The Society of American Foresters are excited to start off another semester!
There are lots of things going on including the Involvement Fair, a softball
tournament, and who can forget Pulpcut? We look forward to seeing all of the old
members as well as TONS of new students next Thurs. at 5pm in CNR 170.
If you can�t make it to the first meeting, feel free to stop by the office any
time to meet the officers as well as current members!
Sustainable Agriculture in Communities Society
Stop by on Tuesdays from 3-6pm at the Campus garden across from the fire station
to get fresh produce. We have all kinds of goodies including tomatoes, peppers,
garlic, and eggplant. We will have meetings at the garden at 7:30pm on Tuesdays
or CPS 234 if it rains. A lot of cool projects will be going on so check us out.
Parks and Recreation Association

Welcome back everyone! Come join us for some
camping, grilling out, or just some R and R. Our meetings are every Wed. at 6pm
CNR 361. Our first meeting will be Wed. Sept. 19. Hope to see you there! Email

Fisheries Society

Join us for meetings every Wednesday at 5:30pm in CNR 320. There
are lots of exciting fish surveys, guest speakers, and other projects planned
for this semester. We hope to see you

Student Law Enforcement Association (SLEA)
NEW
We will be meeting Mon, Sept.
17 at 6pm in CNR 170. This is our first meeting this semester and we will have
pizza so come hungry! Wisconsin Conservation Wardens Ryan Volenberg and
John Scharbarth will be speaking to us. New faces are always welcome. We have a
great semester planned out so come join and get involved! Any questions contact

Resume Workshops
Fall resume workshops have been scheduled for the following dates and times.
Workshops are open to all CNR and science majors and are free of charge. Here
are the workshop sessions:

Workshops will be held in CNR 120 from 7 to 9 PM. All sessions are identical in
content, so students need to attend only one program. Signup is NOT required.

Furbearer Ecology Workshop
There will be a workshop about the ecology, management, and trapping techniques
of furbearers. The workshop will be held Sept. 28-30 and costs only $25. Click

Wisconsin Green Industry Federation (WGIF) Scholarship
Deadline: Oct. 12
Wisconsin Waterfowl Hunters� Conference Wildlife Research Scholarship
There is a newly-established Wisconsin Waterfowl Hunters� Conference Wildlife
Research Scholarship for CNR undergraduate students. The 2007 grant award will
be $500 and will be given to a project that demonstrates the greatest potential
for enhancing or promoting the future of healthy waterfowl populations and
habitat in Wisconsin.
Applicants should submit a 1-page proposal to Dr. Eric Anderson that includes:
1) Project description/overview (e.g., problem/need and goal); 2) Project steps
and timeline; and 3) Estimated project cost / budget. Awardee(s) will be chosen
by WWHC representatives and must present their project results, progress or
plans at the annual Wisconsin Waterfowl Hunters� Conference in spring of 2008.
Deadline for applying is Sept. 28.
