Earth Week and Eco-Fair events this semester.
The Wildlife Society
Welcome back
everyone! The first meeting of The Wildlife Society will be held on Jan. 29, at
5pm in TNR 170. There are many projects taking place and there are many
opportunities coming up that you can get involved in! Come hear about it all at
the meeting- hope to see a lot of new faces!

Society of American Foresters
Come to our weekly meetings on Thurs 5 pm, TNR 170 for tree of the week,
speakers, and forestry current events.
This year's Forestry Banquet will be held on Thurs. Feb. 21 in the Alumni Room
in the Dreyfus University Center.
Reservations will be available in the CNR West Lobby from 9am- 4pm from Mon.
Feb. 4 - Fri. Feb. 15. Reservations
will be $13 for students and $18 for professional/non students. All
reservations are due by Friday, February 15th.This years speaker will be Mr.
Mark Knaebe from the USDA Forest Service. His focus areas include bioenergy,
roundwood engineering, wood finishing, and international forestry. He will be
speaking on biomass energy.

Renewable Energy Summit
The fifth annual Wisconsin
Renewable Energy Summit will be held in Milwaukee, WI on Mar. 12-14, 2008 at the
Midwest Airlines Center. The Summit, titled Green Jobs – Growing Wisconsin’s
Economy, will focus on the role that renewable energy, such as wind power, solar
energy, geothermal, green buildings and bio-energy technologies, will play in
supporting Wisconsin’s economic well being. Growth of renewable energy
businesses will create new “green collar” jobs in Wisconsin. Those jobs include:
manufacturers, installers, consultants, engineers, and associated professions.
Renewable energy in Wisconsin has the potential to produce 35,000 jobs in the

This wolf workshop will provide the latest information about the timber wolf in
Wisconsin. Participants will learn about wolf ecology and society, pack
structure, predator-prey relationship, and about the past, present, and future
of the wolf, including the myths and misunderstandings. Weather and time
permitting, some tracking may be done so don’t forget to bring your boots.
