Submissions to CNR Reporter
All information wishing to be in the CNR Reporter should be submitted by email to cnrreport@uwsp.edu using the form at http://www.uwsp.edu/cnr/reporter/CNRReporter_Article_Form.doc. Submissions are due by 9am Friday for the following weeks CNR Reporter.

!Hey Seniors! NEW
If you are planning on graduating in the next two semesters, stop by the Registration and Records Office in 101 SSC and fill out a graduation application. This allows the registrar and your faculty advisor to review your DPR and make sure you have met all the requirements to graduate. This step only takes a minute but it can save you lots of trouble come graduation day!

!Application To The CNR
Students
who have completed 45 cr. and have a 2.00 GPA in major must apply for formal acceptance into the College of Natural Resources. Application forms are available in CNR Student Success Center (CNR 180). The deadline for applications is Sept. 30.

!CNR Scholarships
The CNR Undergraduate Scholarship application is now available on-line on the Student Success Center website at http://www.uwsp.edu/cnr/studentsuccesscenter/. Application deadline is Sept. 29 at 4pm.

!Belize/Mexico or Costa Rica Winterims. Apply soon!
After Fri., Sept. 22 seats will be limited for the 06/07 Belize/Mexico or Costa Rica Winterims. Reserve your spot today by applying in the Office of International Programs (IP) (CCC 108). These trips are a great opportunity to grow personally, explore and experience the breathtaking biodiversity of these three hospitable countries. Sustainable Agriculture in Communities Society NEW
Check out all the cool stuff that the best new organization on campus is doing this year.  We will be visiting farms and learning about growing uncommon fruits, building hoophouses, composting and vermicomposting, canning, apple cider production, cheese making, and other topics related to sustainable agriculture and good food.  We meet every Tuesday at 7:00pm in front of the CPS cafeteria. 

Environmental Educators and Naturalist Association

Join us for our first meeting on Tues. Sept. 19 at 7pm in CNR 122. Special guest Dr. Yockers will be with us to talk about the Prairie Project, after which we will be talking about our summer experiences and helpful hints for how you can get the job or career you are looking for. We will also be talking about upcoming conferences and workshop opportunities.

GIS/GPS Workshop

An introduction with hands-on exercises. Learn how these fascinating new technologies are reshaping our world and creating new paradigms of understanding. With this computer based technology, you will find applications for almost anyone interested in natural resources. No previous experience is necessary. The course is taught at Treehaven, Tomahawk, WI on Oct. 14-15 by Kevin Lawton. Weekend package costs $155 and includes instruction, all meals, and lodging. Commuter package costs $135. Wildlife Student Hunter Awareness Class

Sign up for NR 405/605, Wildlife Hunter Awareness, a one credit class. This class will teach students who have NOT hunted before, about the history, ethics, conservation, and passion of hunters and hunting while at the McGraw Wildlife Foundation property in Dundee, Illinois. Two sections are available, either Oct. 5-8 or Oct. 26-29. Space is limited. See Dr. Lueck in CNR 245 or email her at dlueck@uwsp.edu if interested.

Do you like spending time with kids in the outdoors? Are you looking to enhance your resume and gain excellent contacts and references? If so, Big Brothers/Big Sisters is looking for volunteers to take kids hunting, fishing, or just spend time outside. Volunteer Opportunity NEW
The Humane Society of Portage County shelter is looking for volunteers to assist with the opening of their brand new building. People are needed to help guide visitors through the new facility, socialize with cats, walk dogs, and educate visitors and the public about everything from how the shelter benefits the community to pet care and dog bite prevention.
