!Application To The CNR
Students
who have completed 45 cr. and have a 2.00 GPA in major must apply for formal acceptance into the College of Natural Resources. Application forms are available in CNR Student Success Center (CNR 180). The deadline for applications is Sept. 30.

!CNR Scholarships
The CNR Undergraduate Scholarship application is now available on-line on the Student Success Center website at http://www.uwsp.edu/cnr/studentsuccesscenter/. Application deadline is Sept. 29 at 4pm.

DROP/ADD Procedures
Students can drop or add a class until Sept. 14 on-line without any signatures, unless the class/section is closed or permission required.

The Al Gore documentary on global warming, "An Inconvenient Truth," will be shown on Wed. Sept. 13, 7pm in CNR 170. A discussion session will follow the showing. This event is free and open to the public. Sponsored by Student Government Association and Academic Affairs.

Women in Natural Resources (WiNR)
WiNR Welcome Back Picnic - Mon. Sept. 11, 5pm, Schmeeckle Pavilion - meet us at the pavilion on the south side of Schmeeckle Reserve for free sandwiches, chips and lemonade! WiNR fall schedule will be finalized and membership dues ($5/yr.) will be collected.

Student Chapter of the Izaak Walton League Bow Shoot NEW
On Wed. Sept. 13th from 3pm to 5pm the Student Chapter of the Izaak Walton League will be having a fall bow shoot out at the Bill Cook Chapter Club grounds.  These grounds are out on Highway 66 just past the last runway of the airport running along Highway 66. The cost of the bow shoot will be $3 for members and $5 for non-members. There will be approx. 40 to 50 3D targets set up for you to shoot and you can shoot as many rounds as you wish.  There will also be a few beverages and snacks available for purchase. After the bow shoot there will be a trap shoot where you can shoot 10 clay pigeons for a dollar. The trap shoot will begin at 6pm.  This is a good chance to get out and practice for the upcoming hunting seasons as some challenging shots will be made as well as easier ones.

GIS/GPS Workshop
NEW
An introduction with hands-on exercises. Learn how these fascinating new technologies are reshaping our world and creating new paradigms of understanding. With this computer based technology, you will find applications for almost anyone interested in natural resources. No previous experience is necessary. The course is taught at Treehaven, Tomahawk, WI on Oct. 14-15 by Kevin Lawton. Weekend package costs $155 and includes instruction, all meals, and lodging. Commuter package costs $135. Wildlife Student Hunter Awareness Class
NEW
Sign up for NR 405/605, Wildlife Hunter Awareness, a one credit class. This class will teach students who have NOT hunted before, about the history, ethics, conservation, and passion of hunters and hunting while at the McGraw Wildlife Foundation property in Dundee, Illinois. Two sections are available, either Oct. 5-8 or Oct. 26-29. Space is limited. See Dr. Lueck in CNR 245 or email her at dlueck@uwsp.edu if interested.

Pulpcut 2006
NRES 405 � Pulpcut, a basic chainsaw safety and handling course will again be offered this Fall.  It is a one-credit, pass/fail course which introduces students to proper safety techniques in the operation of chain saws.  No previous experience is required and all equipment is provided.  The class is limited to 120 students.  Each student is required to attend one of two preliminary safety training sessions and to participate for two days, selected from six weekends, beginning Sept. 16. Preliminary sign-up for Pulpcut will occur Sept. 5 � Sept. 12, in CNR 180.  Students wanting to participate in the class for a second time should sign up as �Supervisors�.  Final registration of participants will occur following the preliminary safety sessions. All participants must attend one of the two preliminary safety sessions on Sept. 13 or Sept. 14, 6:00-8:00 p.m., in CNR 120.  Sign-up is on a first come basis, so don�t delay!  For further information, contact Dr. Houghton, 376 CNR, 346-4182.
