Snowshoe Furniture & Accessory Weaving
Nov. 11, 2006
Take a day to learn the
ancient weaving pattern and knot used in traditional snowshoe making to create
snowshoe-style furniture. Rockers and tables with a warm amber glow add a cozy
grace to your home, cabin, or business. Furniture can be assembled at Treehaven.
Some choose to assemble the Rocking Chair at home (especially if you drive a
smaller car). Quickie Accessory Kits will be available for purchase at
Treehaven. Treehavens snowshoe classes are known for providing an enjoyable,
comfortable, casual, and friendly atmosphere. Chris Johnson, Treehavens
Environmental Educator, provides enthusiasm, patience, and experience. She works
well with people of all weaving abilities and will gladly provide the assistance
you need as you accomplish the mastery of this art. Level of difficulty has
nothing to do with size of the furniture. Cost will range from $145 to $220
depending on project choice. Registration price includes cost of kit and
materials except varnish, lunch and dinner on Saturday, and instruction. Class
begins at 9am and will run until you are done, or 7pm

Tutors Needed
NEW
Kappa Delta Phi, the School of Education Honor Society, works with Pacelli High
School to set up weekly university tutors for students who request them. Tutors
are needed to help students in all different areas of academics, but especially
Ecology, Biology, and Physical Science.
The tutors are matched one to one, so the UWSP student will work with the same
high school student each time. This program has be in operation for several
years, and it has been quite a success. The times for tutoring are during the
regular Pacelli school day (7:30am-3:30pm) and the time would be set up to best
meet the university students schedule.
Interested students can contact Bobbi Jo Van De Loo at
bvand215@uwsp.edu. Please indicate
the time and course you would prefer to tutor.
