Study Abroad Scholarships Available for all UWSP Students NEW
Apply today if you are planning to travel summer, fall or winterim 2007! IPSE (International Programs Scholarship Endowment) scholarships are now available for all programs beginning in the summer of 2007. These are given to UWSP students based on several factors, but merit, rather than need, is a hallmark for these scholarships. UWSP continuing students are strongly encouraged to apply. Deadline for all 2007 programs is March 15, 2007 -- ACT NOW. Details and application (http://www.uwsp.edu/studyabroad/). Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society Study Abroad Scholarships 
Have you wanted to travel internationally? Are you looking for extra money to do so? Do you have between 30 and 90 credit hours earned, and a GPA of at least 3.5? If you answered yes to these questions then be sure to check out the Study Abroad Grant (due February 17, 2006). Annually, fifty $1,000 grants are awarded by Phi Kappa Phi and last year three UWSP students won. You DO NOT have to be a member to apply but read their website for qualifications carefully. One condition is that the study abroad program must be taken between May 1, 2007 and June 30, 2008 (European Seminar would apply!). Wolf Ecology Workshops
Experience shared learning with other wolf enthusiasts while tracking and studying in the classroom and field. You will experience actual tracking and a nighttime howling survey. 
WHEN: 6pm Fri. through lunch Sun., Feb. 2-4, 2007 or Feb. 17, 2007.
WHERE: UWSP-Treehaven, Tomahawk.

Introduction to Wolves
This wolf workshop will provide the latest information about the timber wolf in Wisconsin. Participants will learn about wolf ecology and society, pack structure, predator-prey relationship, and about the past, present, and future of the wolf, including the myths and misunderstandings. Weather and time permitting, some tracking may be done so don�t forget to bring your boots.
WHEN: Sat. 10am - 2pm, Feb. 17, 2007 or March 24, 2007.
FEE: $35. NOTE: Includes lunch. Registrations due Feb. 9 for the Feb. 17 event and Feb. 23 for the March 2 event.


Fly Tying & Trout Stream Entomology
This favorite workshop will introduce you to: basic fly tying techniques, tools and materials, trout stream invertebrates, stream ecology, resource ethics, and theories on hatch matching and fly presentation. You�ll have loads of fun learning to tie common, effective fly patterns for trout at a fraction of the cost!
WHEN: 7pm Fri.-lunch on Sun, March 2-4, 2007.
INSTRUCTORS: Gary Glennon, Stu Nelson, and Jeff Dimick, UWSP.

Leave-No-Trace (LNT) Trainer / Backpacking
Learn LNT wilderness ethics by way of practical application on an overnight backpacking/camping adventure and become an LNT Trainer. Participants will be able to teach others about LNT principals.

Garden Club of America Urban Forestry Scholarship
Garden Club of America has recently established a national fellowship in urban forestry for qualified U.S. students. The fellowship is open to both advanced undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in urban forestry, forestry, horticulture, environmental studies or a closely related field at any 4-year college or university degree program in the United States.

Phi Kappa Phi Sophomore Scholarship Application
Phi Kappa Phi invites you to encourage sophomore students to apply for the Phi Kappa Phi Sophomore Scholarship. We offer a $400 award to recognize sophomore students of outstanding academic achievement and broad educational perspective. Sophomores (30 to 59 credits by the end of the fall semester December 2006) with a GPA of 3.5 may apply.

Students have received a Student Message of the Day informing them of the scholarship opportunity offered by Phi Kappa Phi. Deadline: Feb. 1, 2007, by Noon.

Wisconsin Division of the Izaak Walton League of America Scholarship
$400 scholarship. Any CNR major-must be a current sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student. Preference given to a member of the Student Chapter of IWLA or the IWLA. Applications are available in 180 CNR. Application deadline-Feb. 1, 2007.

$1000-National Rifle Association (NRA) Wildlife Management/Conservation Scholarship for Women

Buckridge Scholarship
$1000 Scholarship Eligibility and Criteria:
Applicants must be:

    �Natural resource major of junior or senior status in good academic standing. Preference to students of junior status (2006-07        
     academic year), but senior applicants will also be considered.
    �Students must submit an essay of approximately 500 words expressing his or her knowledge and insight about the importance of    
     small woodlands in our lives. Scholarship selection will be based primarily on the overall quality of this written essay and its ability
     to communicate the theme.
    �Student-candidate�s overall academic performance and related extracurricular involvement may also be considered (i.e., research,
     student organizations, community service, etc.).

Three surveyors are needed from Apr. 1-May 11, 2007 to conduct morning transect surveys to detect migrant landbirds during spring migration near Yuma, Arizona.
