Seven Titlists Lead Pointers to Win at Carthage

     UW-Stevens Point had seven different individual champions and a relay winner in easily capturing the team title at Saturday�s Tadd Metzger men�s track and field invitational at Carthage College in Kenosha.

     The Pointers accumulated 179 team points to run away from the 16-team field. Marquette placed second with 90 points.

     Ryan Schroeder won the 400-meter dash in 51.54 seconds and Adam Lang took the 600-meter dash in 1:23.17. Greg Haak added a win in the mile at 4:28.72 and Travis Nechuta was the top collegiate finisher in the 3000-meter run at 8:43.82. Adam Baumann claimed the 55-meter hurdles title in 7.91 seconds.

     The Pointers had two champions in field events with Mitch Ellis winning the high jump at six feet, 5.5 inches and Kyle Schofield capturing the shot put at 50 feet, 8.75 inches.

     The 1600-meter relay team added a victory with a winning time of 3:27.39.

     Also, Nick Cufaude competed Saturday at the UW-Stout Open and won the pole vault title with a winning height of 14 feet, 10 inches.
