Kathryn
Pollock won at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles to lead the UW-Stevens
Point women�s tennis team to a 6-3 season-opening victory over Carroll
on Friday in Waukesha.
Pollock
won her singles match over Jaclyn Sturman 6-4, 6-3 and then teamed with
Aimee Strebig to win 9-8 in doubles, capturing the decisive tiebreaker
7-2.
Other
winners for the Pointers were Gina Lamer at No. 5 singles by a score of
6-2, 3-6, 6-4 and Amber Witkowski at No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-2.
The
Pointers won all three doubles matches as Alison Mills and Gretchen Weddig
won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles and freshmen Jana Braam and Kim Goron won 9-7 at
No. 3 doubles.
UW-Stevens
Point will compete at the UW-Whitewater Invitational on Saturday.
